“My purpose as an artist is to invoke joy in others. When we share our gift with the world, we fill a void in someone else's life.” - Judi Wild

The Artist

Judi was born in rural Alberta, Canada in 1945. She spent her childhood in England, where she learned to paint with watercolors.

Her art is heavily influenced by her work as a government draftsman in Alberta and as a graphic designer. Judi is skilled at using layers of watercolors with a "dry brush" method to create intricate details in her art. Her work is featured in collections around the world.

Judi now lives on Vancouver Island, focusing on her art and love for nature.

My Creative Process

Painting with watercolors brings me immense joy and allows me to express my creativity in an environment of tranquility. My unique dry-brush technique involves applying multiple layers of transparent color over a completed pencil drawing, followed by countless hours of intricate detail work. This meticulous process often results in paintings that can take hundreds of hours to complete, with some pieces taking an entire year to finish.

My Life with Lorne

Judi Wild-Hutter, whose husband Lorne Hutter lives in Comox’s household pilot, says the care offered is life-changing. “It’s fantastic for both of us. I feel this is my second home,” she says. “Everyone knows my name and really cares about Lorne, and he’s content. The staff are like angels that have a built-in radar system.”

Home for Us (H4U)

The H4U care model is different from traditional seniors’ care philosophies because caring with this approach means recognizing that aging adults are more likely to thrive when they are supported to maintain their independence, social connections, and their desired and purposeful personal routines.
