NINSTINTS
-
series of 7
lithographs by
Judi Wild
This
collection represents a detailed visual documentation of some of the
actual monumental
poles
from the historical village of Ninstints - designated as a World
Heritage site in 1981.
With the deepest respect for the ancient
Haida carvers of Ninstints Judi Wild has accurately recreated
their
design work. Using nothing more than her
imagination and a few old black & white photos, some dating
back
to the early 1900's, she has captured the natural
beauty of these magnificent monuments.
This
Ninstints series of 7 has been accepted into the National Archives
of Canada
It is an honor that Judi's work
has been recognized as having historical
value.

"Spirit of Chief Ninstints" by Judi Wild
300
hours of painting & research went into the making of this
striking painting. It is first is a series of 7.
"I
used antique black & white photos dating back as far as 1901 for
part of my reference material. If you look closely into the foggy
background of this painting you will see the spirit of the last of
the Chief Ninstints' holding his traditional talking stick".
