 This photo from 1947 shows the watchmen surrounding the base of a mortuary pole no. 7X2. This pole is actually still located in the historic village of Ninstints. The abandoned settlement is now a World Heritage site. The site is protected by watchmen, but you can still visit.

This mortuaryl pole is depicted in Judi Wild's  lithographed print entitled  "Ancient Souls"

Judi's entire collection of 7 lithographed prints have recently been acquired by the National Archives of Canada.
